Bicycle Revolution
Bicycle Revolution on Montague Road in West End is a mecca of wonder for bike lovers. They take old unwanted bicycles and parts and rebuild new ones. They respray them, find wheels, handlebars, add some new bits and then you get a wonderfully unique bike at the very end.
I got given a voucher there last year for my birthday from some lovely friends in London. So I went along, had a few consultations about what I wanted, choose the various bits I wanted and the process begun. I decided on a vintage Rayleigh frame and colours that reminded me of the Australian the outback, so I have a eucalyptus base frame and a cream accent. I was newly back in Australia, so was feeling the need to be patriotic. It’s all finished off nicely with a lovely wicker basket. Brisbane isn’t easy to ride around and up and down with only three gears, but it’s a gorgeous thing, I just look at it and smile. Behold my bike ‘Pistachio’.
Prices for a remodel start at about $400.
