Gems Supermarket
Lizzie's post on the Holy Family Church built in 1968 inspired me to post this one... Built in 1970 in France around the same time, The GEM supermarket was designed by french architect Claude Parent. Amazing that in the late 60's early 70's there can be such a strong style link across the globe. There is a movement to get this one listed as a historical monument. There is a great set of posts on the architect Claude Parent on this blog on modernist architecture. http://archipostcard.blogspot.com/search/label/Claude%20Parent The black and white historical pictures are from the magazine "Architettura" No. 208 of 1973. The modern picture is Claude Lothier.
