Sydney Design - Castiglioni

Sydney Design has just finished and Lizzie went along to a talk at the Powerhouse on Achille Castiglioni, given by his daughter, Giovanna. It was warm, heart felt and so touching to hear her speak about her father and his work. Achille Castiglioni was an architect and industrial designer, the word prolific doesn't quite sum it up, it was overwhelming to hear about what he achieved in his life time. Many of his pieces are icons of 20th century design, but many go unrecognised. He worked and studied at the Universita Politecnico di Milano, coincidentally also attended by Suzie. Next holiday will be to Milan with a visit to Achille's old studio where Giovanna takes tours.
