Floating Concrete House

Buenos Aires strikes again!  Our favourite city. South American Architects do some great residential architecture, today we stumbled across BAK Arquitectos. We love the setting of this house, particularly the integration of the trees to the built form, decks built around trees are always lovely, here they have also formed a hole in the roof slab for a tree. The few steps to the ground keeps it sitting happily and having the suspended concrete is a treat as it is upside down from the usual, not too sure how they are holding it up as there is hardly a column in sight. Looking at their website, concrete is something they use a lot.

There have been a few residences of late using concrete with the cast of the boarded formwork imprinted like this, often coupled with warm lighting, it creates a glow on a usually cool texture, great for a hot climate where you still want a homely feel. Well worth a look http://www.bakarquitectos.com.ar/
