Pio Pio

We've been madly researching our upcoming trip to NYC and have been lucky to find some really beautiful things. This new restaurant, Pio Pio, is by the Sebastian Mariscal Studio based in NY (see their website, they have some lovely stuff). This post is via Archdaily so click through to read all about it. I love the way the concrete was formed with timber and then lit with warm light to give it an earthy raw feel and that cantilevered marble reception is amazing!

It is very reminiscent of one of my favourite buildings ever, The Thermal baths in Vals by Peter Zumthor.(image below via nickkane.co.uk). Zumthor won the 2009 Pritzker Prize for Architecture, See the laureate booklet link http://www.pritzkerprize.com/laureates/2009/photobooklet2009.pdf
