Marina Abramović Made Me Cry

Whilst in New York we went along to many galleries, the stand out being MoMA. A wonderful retrospective of work by performance artist Marina Abramović was on display, it was stunning. The show featured many of her old works, re-enacted in the space as well as a special performance, The Artist is Present. The work features Abramović sitting completely still for the duration of the gallery opening hours over a seven week period. Gallery visitors are invited to sit in front of her for a time period of their choosing. It was truly amazing, emotional and overwhelming thing to witness. This website shows some of the many visitors, sitting in front of her, who were overcome by the experience.
