Hidden Cheek

London architects AOC have remodelled the interior of an Edwardian suburban home at Golders Green, London. What appears at first as a conservative neutral design, soon reveals itself to have a cheeky depth of detail. I like how the formed concrete hearth creates the stairs and has been formed using timber in a herringbone pattern to match the parquet floor. This flooring style has also been continued outside to the rear deck. The balustrades are playful and fun and work with different shapes and white tones. Look closely and you can see a lampshade shape cutout with a bulb inside.
