Best Made

We continue our love of everyday objects made beautiful, with a company called Best Made. They are based in Manhattan and produce beautifully simple and timelessly elegant axes....yes, axes. They base their philosophy on people seeking beauty in objects they own for life. They speak to the notions of hard work, nature, tools, sheds and all things outdoors. I would love to see the burley men at the Ekka in the wood chopping competitions with the spotty one!

Some quotes from their website:

An axe is indispensable and sublime, the epitome of fortitude and strength, a perfect design object, a timeless instrument.

Color, pattern, and play are the guiding factors in everything we make. Even though it’s “just an axe” it’s a blank canvas with endless possibilities. When the axe is finished we sit down and think of names. The naming process is crucial: it’s where we give the axe the beginning of its story, albeit a very short story (we purposefully do not caption the axes, just give them names) because we know our customers are inventive enough to create the real ongoing story.
