La Isolina Estancia

When we travelled to Brazil and Argentina last year, we wanted to treat ourselves to some quiet time on an Estanncia at the end of hard and amazing six weeks or Carnival craziness, sickness, backpacking and bus travel. We fortunately stumbled across this amazing place, after a few random calls and one lucky suggestion.

The owners of this home, Maria and Jose, are 5th generation Argentineans. Their house sits on a cattle property, about 3 outside of Buenos Aires and was built in 1920 and has an amazing mix of English, Italian and French influences architecture and their home is filled with amazing books, photos and trinkets. In the early 2000s, when the paco was at its worst, they decided in order to keep their family home, they would need to open it up as B&B.

Highlights included:

- Horse riding each day with Jose
- The amazing food cooked by their cook
- Walking the grounds, which felt oddly Australian…..
- Enjoying some down time in a home that felt like a family friend.

A nights accommodation and food cost about $150US. This cost included a formal sit down breakfast, morning tea, 3 course lunch, afternoon tea, afternoon drinks on the porch and a 3 course dinner, all served with the most amazing Malbec! We would highly recommend it.
