APT6
APT6 (Asia Pacific Triennial) is opening at the Queensland Art Gallery this Saturday. The exhibition is the biggest the gallery has undertaken, spanning across both the QAG and GoMA. Over 300 artworks will be represented from over 150 artists and 25 different countries, showcasing different practises and works from Asia, Australia and the Pacific.
The artworks are currently going up and this one is my favourite. The work, In-flight (Project: Another country) is created by collaborative husband and wife team, Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan. Their work speaks about movement, relocation and dislocation. The work has been created with the help of hundreds of people who have made these tiny planes that together create the artwork. It also invovles a Kids APT activity, and children can make their own planes to add to the flight path.
