The Impossible Project
Polaroid film stopped production this year, which is a terrible shame. The quality of the film is so special and regardless of how instant digital cameras are, the fact that you can hold the picture in your hand and watch it develop is something quite special.
The Impossible Project has teamed up with Urban Outfitters in the UK to help develop (excuse the pun) ways to streamline the process, make it more cost efficient with plans to relaunch with swish new updates by late 2009.
This story totally captured my heart and I think what they are doing is really important to the history of photography. To assist in their mission, t-shirts can be purchased and limited edition Polaroid cameras and film can be purchased via the Urban Outfitters website.
Their website is great; it shows lots of images of the factory, the process and their plans for the relaunch. (Images courtesy of the IP website)
