Easton Pearson

Easton Pearson, the name synonymous with Queensland fashion has a retrospective opening at the Gallery of Modern Art tomorrow night.

Hard to define in words, as their collections don't speak directly about one influence. They often say their style is developed through their lives, books, films, family, textures, travel and a whole swag of other influences. The exhibition highlights the journey over the past 20 years that has seen them become a global brand rich in texture, decoration and stories, but always uniquely Australian.

Special mention must go to my colleague and dear friend, exhibitioner designer Carolyne Jackson. The use of the pineapple motif is divine.

The exhibition ‘Easton Pearson’ is on at GoMA until 8 November 2009.
